Dear NAME,

I am so excited to wish you your very first Merry Christmas! What an exciting time for you and your family.  I know that your parents have probably explained a lot to you about Christmas, and about me! Ho ho ho!  Just in case they have left something out, I would like to tell you a story about the magic of Christmas…

Once upon a time, a very long time ago, I lived in a far away land, quite a bit different from my home here at the North Pole.  My parents left me a great fortune, which I decided to give away.  I always wanted to help others – ho, ho, ho!  I always especially liked children, like you, NAME, and always loved making them happy by surprising them with gifts and treasures!  Christmas was always my favorite holiday, so I decided to do everything that I could to spread Christmas cheer.  I picked the Christmas season to give gifts to all the good girls and boys for being so good all year.

The magic of Christmas must have gotten to me!  I never grew any older than that first year when I spent Christmas Eve visiting all the good children in my town.  The very next night I had a miraculous dream, and a voice said to me, “Nicholas, move to a place, far, far away, as far north as you can go, where the heavens meet the earth”.  So I began my journey to a land of snow, and when I thought I couldn’t go any further, I heard the beautiful sound of bells, and eight magnificent reindeer appeared with a sleigh to carry me the rest of the way to my new home!!!!

NAME, I just know that you will be one of my very best children! Ho, ho, ho!  I know that it is sometimes hard to be good, but remember — I can see you when you are sleeping, and I know when you are awake, I know when you’ve been bad or good, so be good, for goodness sake!!!  If you ever get in trouble or have a doubt, just remember my story, and know that I will be cheering you on!  Merry Christmas, NAME, and welcome to the World!
